Nakshatra

Understand the 27 nakshatras, the lunar mansions that shape mind, emotion and destiny in Vedic astrology.

A nakshatra is one of 27 equal divisions of the zodiac, each spanning 13°20'. Your birth nakshatra is the one the Moon occupied when you were born.

Why it matters

The nakshatra refines the Moon sign. It colours temperament, instincts and the style of your planetary periods, because the Vimshottari dasha sequence begins from the birth nakshatra.

Examples

  • Ashwini: quick, pioneering, healing
  • Rohini: creative, attractive, fond of comfort
  • Pushya: nurturing, disciplined, protective
  • Revati: gentle, intuitive, guiding

Each nakshatra also has four quarters (padas) used for naming and finer analysis. A full reading names your own nakshatra and explains its themes.
