A Kundli is a diagram of the sky at the moment you were born. It is drawn from your date, exact time and place of birth.
The two main parts
The chart is divided into twelve houses. Each house governs an area of life such as self, family, work or relationships. Nine planets are then placed in those houses according to their position in the sky.
Reading it step by step
- Find the ascendant, the sign rising in the first house
- Note where the Moon sits, since it shows mind and emotion
- See which houses hold planets and which are empty
- Check the running planetary period
Do not worry if you do not understand every symbol at once. Start with the ascendant and Moon, then build from there.
